Ladybirds Class Team

Learning in Ladybirds

Our main focus this term is centered on the themed unit of ’Come Outside’ with links to growing, minibeasts and Teddy Bears. We will learn about the life cycles of different animals and plants, what plants need to grow, and minibeasts in their habitats. There will be many opportunities to learn outside, with a real-life bear hunt and a day out at Wilderness Wood for teddy bear den building, mini beast hunting and clay modeling.  The topic is inspired by the key texts Tadpole's Promise, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Jasper's Beanstalk and We're Going on a Bear Hunt.

Tadpole's Promise (Paperback)               The Very Hungry Caterpillar [Board Book]: Eric Carle         Jasper's Beanstalk : Butterworth, Nick, Inkpen, Mick: Amazon.co.uk: Books          We're Going on a Bear Hunt: 1 (CBH Children / Picture Books)

As our literacy skills develop, we encourage word building, using digraphs as a focus, and writing sentences that can be read by others. Continuous practice of harder-to-read and write words and daily shared reading is paramount.

Take a look at some of our brilliant learning in Ladybirds so far this year.
