Volunteering at Ashdown
We are hoping and planning for volunteers to be welcomed back to our school in September 2021.
We are also taking this opportunity to add in some training for our volunteers on things like safeguarding.
This is the recording of the information session via zoom on Tuesday 15th June 2021 with Mrs Owbridge.
If you would like to join our team of volunteers, please complete our volunteer application form
FAQs (these will be added to as questions come up)
Do I need a new DBS check if I already have one?
Yes, unless you pay for yours to be "portable". DBS checks for volunteers are free. If you would like yours to be used for numerous organisations eg scouts, church, other volunteering, then you will need to pay yourself for the portability of the DBS. You are welcome to do this, but school cannot contribute to the cost as DBS checks for our volunteers can be obtained free.
Is there a maximum amount of time I can volunteer for?
In theory no, but wo work in a school full time as a volunteer would be extremely generous and we are not expecting this level of commitment. However, if you were looking to get some significant work experience for getting back into teaching or before a TA course for example, we can accommodate that. Just let us know what you'd like to do on your form.
If I've already given references for another role I do in school (eg governor) do I still need to provide two more?
Yes, it is a requirement of East Sussex County Council for the Single Central Record which is a part of our safeguarding protocols to have two references for each role you undertake.
