Welcome to Year 5

We are delighted to welcome the children back to Year 5 and are looking forward to a busy and exciting autumn term. Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle every day, along with a named coat and wellies for outdoor learning. Children may attend school in their PE kits on PE days in line with our updated uniform policy.

This term, our learning will centre around Letters from the Lighthouse and World War 1 and 2, alongside a biography study of David Attenborough. In Maths, we will focus on place value and the four operations, while continuing to develop times tables fluency through Times Tables Rock Stars. Children will also enjoy swimming, hockey, recorder lessons, collage art, computing, RE, and PSHE.

We encourage all children to read at home at least four times each week. Year 5 pupils will also take part in our popular Year 2 Buddy Programme, helping younger children settle into school life whilst developing their own confidence and leadership skills. We are also hoping to arrange a curriculum-linked trip and a visit from our local MP during the term.

We look forward to a fantastic term of learning and achievement together.

Pupils will enjoy two PE lessons each week, on Monday and swimming on Friday.
