Alison is the parent of Daniel in year 8 and Bethan in year 10 at Beacon, both of whom went to Whitehill & Herne, & Lauren who will hopefully start at Ashdown Primary soon.
She has been a parent volunteer at Whitehill (school & nursery) and Herne for over 11 years being an active member of the PTAs, listening to readers in class, helping with cooking & swimming, being involved with the Walking Bus, running an after-school French Club (at Whitehill, Herne & Ashdown) and attending school trips & inter-school sports events – She has been a governor for 3 years.
She has experience of organising PTA events and teaching French, German and English. She is self-employed and runs several part-time businesses. Her interests include the environment, cooking, music, languages and travel and she is passionate about the future success of Ashdown Primary School.
Steve Allen (Chair)
Steve has a daughter in the school. He is married to Jennifer and is currently the technical manager for the joint Fire Service Sussex Control Centre. He has a great deal of knowledge and experience gained at local and national level within a number of business areas including leadership, management, business strategy, collaboration, business process, user design, data, learning and development, training systems, technical and project management. Steve is a Fellow Chartered Manager and a Fellow BCS IT professional. He is also a member of the PTA. Steve enjoys camping and fly fishing outside of work as well as running a local weather station.
Ian is a qualified accountant and has retired from a career in audit and risk management within local government, telecommunications and banking. Ian and his wife, Jill, have lived in Crowborough for 40 years and their three children have each passed through Whitehill, Herne, Beacon and university and are all happily married producing grandchildren, 6 to date. Ian has been a governor at Whitehill, Herne, the Federation and now Ashdown Primary School since 1986. He has chaired the Finance Committees for most of that time and latterly the Leadership and Management Committee for the Federation. He chaired the Herne Governing Body for two years. Having retired in 2003 he undertook a 6 year term as governor at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and is a magistrate sitting at Brighton. His other interests include theatre, golf and gardening.
Brian became a school governor way back in 2004. Both of his children attended Whitehill and Herne. Formerly the Theatre Director at the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. He has considerable experience in business planning, marketing, financial management and governance. He has a BA(hons) in History/Politics and a postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science. He has only recently passed on the chair of the Governing Body to Steve Allen and as vice chair, continues to play a key role in realising the ambition of Ashdown Primary School to be one of the most successful in Crowborough. He enjoys the role of governor and finds it very rewarding. He is a keen cook, enjoys football, rugby, NFL and is currently trying to fathom the intricacies of cricket. He is also at the 'beck and call' of his 14 and 16 year old as a driver for them and their friends.
Greg is married to Andrea and they have 2 daughters at the school, Sophie at the Junior Site, and Katie at the Infant Site, and is committed to supporting the ongoing success of Ashdown Primary School.
He is currently the Business Development Manager for a company supplying card payment services, and brings a broad range of business & commercial experience to his role as Governor.
Greg has a BA (Hons) degree and is a Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
Greg currently Chairs the school's Standards & Data Committee.
